Day trip - Picnic at Colo River (Buckenbah Vineyard)
Sunday 1st April 2007
Come and visit one of our club members homes in Lower Portland for a picnic in their vineyard situated on the banks of the Colo River, followed by a short voyage on their historic 19th Century Steam boat.
Program
10.00 am Meet at the front of the historic Macquarie Arms Hotel (to get there, go along Windsor Road heading
for the Hawkesbury river. The Macquarie Arms Hotel is on the top of the hill near the main shopping
road before the descent to the bridge crossing the river)
10.30 am Convoy to Graeme's home. Graeme will guide us through the area to his and Toni's home.
BYO everything.
Please note: Graeme and Toni will have a spit roast lamb to supplement the picnic you bring yourselves. Please also note that Graeme has a vineyard on the property, and therefore there will be plenty of his beautiful Buckenbah red and white wine to drink.
A large area close to the river is available to park our cars and picnic. Please bring your own chairs and tables. Graeme will invite you to take a ride in his historic 1890's steam boat "Rose Marie". The boat has been beautifully restored and will be captained by Mark Davis on the day. Mark's father actually restored the steam engine in England.
Directions
Make your own way to Windsor, and we will meet at the Macquarie Arms Hotel. Graeme will escort us to his house in Lower Colo Road.
Please contact by 23rd March:

Photos from the Day.....
First we met at the historic Macquarie Arms Hotel....
Dennis was as always happy to see us all (below).... note Robert & Christine's beautiful 3 Ltr in the background
Graeme and friends turned up in his beautiful 1934 3 & 1/2 Ltr (below) while Carol said hello.
Once we made it to Graeme & Toni's place we parked our cars by the magnificent river. You can see Graeme's vineyard on the left of the photo below, and some of our cars to the right of the photo.
The photo below shows the slipway to transport the steam boat into the river.
Approximately 14 Bentley cars attended the day, plus many other members who didn't have their car with them on the day.....it was a great turnout for a wonderful day.
Five "S Series" cars attended the day (S1's, S2's and one S3) which was great to see. We also had a Bentley Continental (Keith's car), a Bentley Brooklands (Roger's car), 2 Turbo R's (Damian and Ian), a Derby (Kevin), a Mark VI(Karl), a 3Ltr (Robert), and of course Graeme's T2 and 3 & 1/2 Ltr.
We piled onto the Steam Boat (below) as soon as we had the chance!
...and of course we all had plenty of time to picnic and drink Graeme's wine beside the river....
....and our club President (Bob) had the chance to thank our gracious hosts Graeme and Toni for a wonderful day.
.....and finally, for the last word, Graeme thanked us for attending (see below) and making the event an enjoyable day for all. No need to thank us Graeme....we had a fantastic time.
