Day trip - Central Coast Lunch run - Feb 2007
Sunday 18th Feb 2007
The first event for 2007 will be a lunch run to Terrigal culminating with lunch at the Reef Restaurant at the Haven. The Restaurant has superb views across to Terrigal Beach and further north, and serves excellent meals, ranging from $30-$40 per main.
For those with a small appetite or a tight budget, the Cove Cafe and Grill downstairs is also very good.
We will be starting at the Pie in the Sky on the Old Pacific Highway, where any slow starters can give themselves a caffeine hit before we all set out .
This should be a great start to the year, offering good driving roads, great scenery, (hopefully) light traffic, fine cars, good food, and guaranteed excellent company. What more could we want?
Directions
Here is the program for the day:
10.00 am: meet at "Pie in the Sky" on the Old Pacific Highway, just south of the Hawkesbury River Bridge, for morning tea (or breakfast).
10.30 am: proceed north along Old Pacific Highway to Kariong, turn right to Woy Woy, through Woy Woy, over the Rip Bridge to Killcare, arriving at Hardy's Bay at 11.30am for a quick rest break and stretch of the legs.
12 midday: proceed back up the hill to Killcare Heights, stopping briefly at the Marie Byles Lookout for panoramic views over Broken Bay, Lion Island and Barrenjoey.
1.00 pm: Proceed along Scenic Drive to The Haven at Terrigal for 1pm lunch at the Reef Restaurant.
The road is mostly 2 lane carriageway through bushland, with sea breezes at our destination if it is a hot day.
After lunch: stroll up the Skillion, around the rocks or along the beach, or perhaps participate in some retail therapy in Terrigal.
Retrace route to return, or head straight to Gosford and then take the F3 if you are in a hurry.

Here are some photos from the day trip......
Firstly, we met at "Pie in the Sky" .......
........to meet, have a chat.....a cup of tea/coffee .........
........and appreciate the magnificent view....
We stopped briefly at the Marie Byles Lookout for panoramic views over Broken Bay, Lion Island and Barrenjoey
A lineup of some of the cars which came on the day....
And given Jerome had his S3 in the workshop he needed a ride....so Carol and Ian very graciously obliged in their fantastic Bentley Turbo R. Once at Pie in the Sky, Robert and Christine quickly suggested that Jerome sit in the back of their magnificent 1926 Bentley 3 Ltr for the trip. Jerome said he was like a "Cheshire cat" all day.....and had a wonderful day. Here is a photo Jerome took from the back of the 3 Ltr. You can see a Bentley Corniche (Laurie and Coralie) and a S2 (Bob and Nancye) on the road in front.
We had lunch at the Reef restaurant with views over Terrigal Beach.....
After a few wines, Paul got the courage to compare his new bust with Carols.....You be the judge!
What a sight......Max's Bentley Speed Six (at left) and Robert's Bentley 3 Ltr (on right)....in a traffic jam at the restaurant......you could stare at this spectacle all day!
